About Me

Hey y'all, (ok, now that I wrote that I feel like Paula Deen, but hey, why not!? This is a Food blog isn't it?)
I'm going to try writing about myself here and not feel self centered, since, that is what this section is for, right? Good.

My name is Alison, an aspiring chef, but really just a housewife living in the U.S. Army Post of Ansbach, Germany. I know your jealous, but you'll soon discover why I have started this blog.
I used to work... like in an office answering phone calls, talking to disgruntled customers, staring at a computer screen fixing aforemtioned disgruntled customers problems, and then blowing off the pent up steam I had aquired during previously mentioned customer conversations to my good friend and associate, Shayla.

Now, Shayla has a unique way of thinking, she is hilarious and a great cook, but Shayla has a way of "breaking it down" to the very last detail of preparing a meal (i.e. "I have to turn on the light switch, walk to the fridge, open the fridge, etc. you get the idea right?) Stressed already? Me too.  So, I got to thinking, if I break things down enough and show just how easy cooking can be, then maybe, JUST maybe, I can make cooking fun for all! Now, eventhough I have all this extra time does not mean that I am no the reigning queen of procrastination... I still wait until the last minute most nights to make dinner. So most of what I cook takes little time to prepare and still is delicious and nutritious!

I love to cook, and now that I do not work all day for 5 days a week, I feel that I can really enjoy cooking for the first time in... well, ever!
Enter the hungry soldier, otherwise known as "Boo", he may seem like he belongs on the movie "300"  kicking people in holes while screaming "THIS IS Spaaartaaaa!!!" but really he has the taste buds (and heart, awww I know!) of a 7 year old who thinks girls have cooties and vegetables are something to be smuggled under the table to the drooling chops of our two little animals, who I lovingly refer to as my "Fur Babies" otherwise known as Stella and Foxy. Boo doesn't eat many veggies, in fact everytime I bring it up he defensively states, " I eat vegetables, I just don't eat peas, lima beans, green beans," etc. etc. enter names of 40 other vegetables and then states proudly (with that adorable [[[don't tell him I refered to him as adorable]]] boyish [[[or boyish]]] grin) "BUT I do like corn and Potatoes!" *sigh* So that leaves me to either mash up them there vegetables beyond recognition, or leave them big enough to pick out, or cover them with cheese... because cheese makes everything better in his eyes. One day I will win him over! (Good luck, I know, but I'm trying to be optimistic here!)
Back to our fur babies, Stella, a Siberian Husky who enjoys savoring our dinners that were left on the counter while we set the table and Foxy is a prissy chow-keeshund princess who hates being dirty or breaking the law like her rebel sister, Stella. They bring much joy to our life and also a few nights of eating Ramen Noodles complements of our little dinner thief.
When we got word that we had to move to Germany, and were forced to leave the convieninces of 24 hour grocery stores, Drive Thru's, TJMaxx's, and street names that I can pronounce, I was left to fend for our little family and provide the sustenance they require (dramatic, eh?) So, off I went and here is the good, the bad, and the ugly, but, delicious foods I have created. Some may be complex, others may be so easy that your significant other will think you just wiggled your nose. Either way, I hope you enjoy!
So that's all folks (Now, I feel like Porky Pig) Me, my Boo, and our two fur babies, Stella and Foxy making our mark on Germany. Stay tuned this could get very interesting :)
